IAS can also be cleared without joining coaching classes. To get started with IAS preparation, you should first have some idea about the service itself. If you are good at self-study, you can clear UPSC without any coaching. But if you feel it’s a risky strategy to take it on your own for preparation then you should join coaching classes.

When do you require coaching :

1.You don’t have enough time and need a course to run through the important topics.
2.You’re not aware of the syllabus, pattern and don’t know where to start and what to study.
3.You are not confident enough that you can do it by yourself.
4.You have very little knowledge about the subjects and can’t formulate a strategy on your own.
5.You have no access to internet and you can’t browse websites that provide IAS study materials, guidance and information regarding the exam.

If you are not aware of these things then you need to join coaching classes.
There are two things you need to Pass UPSC exam if you join coaching classes:
    1. Guidance
    2. Knowledge
These are the necessary factors you need to get from the coaching institutes. Some of the institutes can provide you with good guidance and knowledge through there good faculties.

When it comes to preparation of caivil services or matter of fact any competitive exams these days, the most important obstacle which an aspirant faces is “Which IAS coaching academy should he/she join ?”
Now one might debate whether there is a need to join coaching in the first hand. The answer to this is yes as well as No. Coaching has become an essential part of cracking competitive examinations. It gives you the edge to far well in a highly competitive environment. But that does not mean it cannot be done with. If the candidate has enough time and is willing to take the pain to explore the syllabus and find key resources for the exam, one can do well even without coaching too.
Civil service Examination is one of the toughest exams of the world. The prestige, honor and Authority attached to the services prompt lacs of talented youngsters to pursue it. In such a Competitive environment getting an edge over others is very essential.
