Off course yes, at least the examiner must be able to read your answer. If you write horribly like all words are not in a form of readable then you can’t expect good marks in your UPSC(IAS) exam.

Hand writing is important in any written exam. However if you do not possess a very good hand writing do not worry. You can still make your answers more presentable by following certain rules.

Write neatly, leave good space between the lines and words so that examiner can understand what you have written

    Give headings to various paragraphs

    Write in an orderly fashion

    Underline important facts

Write an introductory part for every question and aconcluding part which should be separately visible So that examples will get an idea of depth of your knowledge even by looking at your introduction, conclusion and the paragraph headings.

I think you should try to Make your answer intelligent and comprehensive
